Copper Art:

I have always had art in my life, but design was where I focused professionally. Fine art was something that snuck up on me after I moved from NYC back to the Capital Region. I needed a creative outlet and found copper and patina was the answer.

I was creating a pickguard for my acoustic guitar project, and I always liked how non-ferrous metals aged. Maybe it was the mad scientist in me, but I just loved working with the various chemicals and seeing what developed. It gave me a very darkroom like experience, and I was able to pull the content from what the process produced.

What interested me was how they evolved. Each piece is in constant reaction to its environment and changes independently from the artist. It's a good reminder that even as the creator we have no control over our own work.
